The Lesser One Turns 19!

Hooray! Today my favorite little Trojan sis is the big 1-9! I'm so proud of you Little Lu, even though 19 is a pretty insignificant age to turn and even though you will never be in line for the throne since you're the youngest haha suck it! Nevertheless, have a wonderful birthday. I know I don't need to tell you to do it big since you're going to anyways you cray. And I can't WAIT till you get your little butt over here to Prague.

P.S. I think this belongs here...

Last Night at the Meet Factory...
This, but about 120 decibels louder, nonstop, all night. I'll let you be the judge as to whether or not that sounds like a fun time.

Feelin' So Fly.

So, as you know from religiously reading my blog (seriously guys, it's actually kinda getting out of hand. I know that my life is far sexier and more interesting than yours, but come on...get a hobby), I have been making a point of trying to find all of the David Černý sculptures that are all over Prague.
Well, this week I made a new addition to my David Černý repertoire...with David Černý himself! We spotted him at the bar that he frequents (according to him, it's his 'living room') and helped design (he made the bar countertops which were filled with weird creepy toys and other found objects, including his own 'DNA', apparently). My friends who talked to him for upwards of two hours insist that he is just as weird as his crazy artwork. Anyway, there's a music festival called Lunchmeat going on at David Černý's club Meet Factory (pictured) tonight, so I think I'm gonna go check it out later!
In other super-cool VIP news, I got to get super fancy this week and go to the amazing Prague Municipal House to see the Prague Symphony play some bomb-ass music. It was absolutely gorgeous and I felt so fancy drinking champagne in the amazing Art Nouveau lobby. It was, ironically, American night featuring composers like George Gershwin and Leonard Bernstein, and also this composer I had never heard of, but was amazing, Ferde Grofé:
Now, picture how classy I'd look listening to this live...
EDIT:
Here's a picture I took inside the Municipal House. Looks like we're in the Titanic post-iceberg!

Kutna Hora.
I'm finally putting up some pictures from Kutna Hora, a town about an hour outside of Prague that I blessed with my presence a few weeks ago.
Our first stop was the Sedlec Ossuary, a church with an interior design made entirely out of human bones!
The bones are the remnants of the victims of my Reign of Terror a few years back (teen angst, some might say...). Anyway, they are displayed proudly in this church to remind all visitors not to freakin' mess with me.
Just kidding, the bones are actually from victims of the plague in the 14th century, and the bones were artistically arranged by František Rint in 1870. But if you wanted to know the boring actual truth, you should've just gone to Wikipedia.
After things at the ossuary got a little too macabre for our taste, we wandered around the town and stumbled upon a circus! The circus wasn't actually performing, but all the animals were just chilling outside in their pens so we went to take a look. The guys running the zoo didn't care that we were there and let us pet all of the animals (the ones that wouldn't kill us, that is), so I got to pet some llamas, miniature ponies, zebras, and camels!
It was exciting because I got two pet two new species of animals that I had previously never pet before (zebras and camels). It dawned on me that I should embark on a lifelong quest to pet as many species of animal as humanly possible. Here, you can see me coming to this momentous conclusion:
As my followers, you are hereby obligated to seek out and and present to me as many exotic species of animals as you can find. I would like to start with small breeds of monkeys such as marmosets, tarsiers, and capuchins. Macaques will do in a pinch. Good luck to you.

More Movies.
My next entry will be about something other than films I've seen recently, I promise. In the mean time, go see Polanski's "Carnage". It's absolutely ridiculous and nothing short of incredible...Kate Winslet can literally do no wrong in my eyes.

Also this week, I went to Bio|Oko(it's a bar/movie theatre with lawn chairs and old cars instead of traditional seats...) and saw all of the short films nominated for the Best Live Action Short Oscar this year.
I'm not quite sure how you would go about watching these films since they're not on wide release (the Bio|Oko screening was apparently the last one in Central/Eastern Europe), but if you happen to get really lucky and find a theatre that's playing these films, I cannot recommend them enough; each and every one of them was absolutely vibrant and fantastic. It made me sad that short films really don't get much attention at all as a medium--there is so much that can be said in such a short amount of time, and the fact that you don't need to support a feature-length plot lets you get really creative with it. Here's links to trailers (maybe if you do a little digging you might be able to find the full versions online somewhere...some are available for download on iTunes): Pentecost, Raju, Tuba Atlantic, The Shore, Time Freak. I won't tell you which one won in case you didn't see the Academy Awards and you want to guess...enjoy!
